Showers over the Main Range

Taken from the saddle on Mt Mitchell as a few gentle showers were crossing over the range while on a walk with my wife – headed up in the late afternoon to get some sunset and star photos but the weather didn’t cooperate very nicely. Just after this photo was taken I was hurrying up the final slope, dropped my tripod and broke the head. I had to rig up an alternative by tying my camera onto the tripod base with string!

We had a great walk, saw a few not commonly seen creatures like a spiny tailed crayfish,  a southern angle headed dragon and a golden crowned snake. We also came across a rather large Carpet Python on the way down which we almost stepped onto.
